Night & Hotel Rwanda
Classification was shown in Night and Hotel Rwanda. In Night the German and the Jews were separated when the war began, the Jews were forced by the Nazi's to wear yellow stars so that they could identify who was in the Jewish community and who wasn't. Elie Wiesel explains in his book that when they had arrived at the first camp the men were separated from the women and children. Not only were the Jews forced to wear yellow stars, they also had to have a certain number tattooed on their body to indentify them when they reached the other camps. In Hotel Rwanda the Hutu's and Tutsi's were both divided up, the Tutsi's were described as horrible people, at the beginning they were known to have great wealth but lost it all when their monarchy was overthrown in the early 1960s by the Hutu's (known as lower class). The Hutu's took power by force in Rwanda.
Extermination was also shown in both Night and Hotel Rwanda, in Night the Nazi's killed most of the women and children at the beginning and divided up all the chambers. The SS soldiers would then pick out the strongest and get rid of the weakest by putting them in gas chambers. In Hotel Rwanda the Tutsi's would just basically kill anyone that was a Hutu, they would start riots to scare people away and then they would ask for ID's to indentify if they were either Hutu or Tutsi's. In the movie a soldier had asked Paul (main character and Hutu) for the list of guest that were staying at the hotel that Paul ran. The Tutsi's basically had hit list/ death lists.
Somalia is basically going through the same events that happened in Night and Hotel Rwanda. They were divided up into numerous clans that involved their ancestors; they were then broken down into sub clans to create a clan family. Also many Somali's died due to war related issues such as famine, sickness, killing and lack of supplies.
